    Mesoscale Discussion 1269

Areas affected...Parts of west-central NE into extreme northeast CO

    Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 410...

    Valid 130243Z - 130415Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 410
    continues.

SUMMARY...Some threat for strong to severe gusts and isolated hail
will spread eastward into late evening.

DISCUSSION...Some increase in storm intensity has been noted in the
last 30-60 minutes along an eastward-moving outflow across
west-central NE and extreme northeast CO, as this outflow has
intercepted a somewhat more unstable environment (with MLCAPE of
1500-2000 J/kg per recent objective mesoanalyses). KGGF recently
gusted to 46 kt in Grant County, NE, and isolated severe gusts will
remain a threat into late evening as ongoing convection moves
eastward, along with some hail potential.=20

This eastward-moving cluster of storms will intersect a remnant southward-moving supercell cluster (and its outflow) in areas
near/north of North Platte. A brief uptick in storm intensity will
remain possible near outflow intersections in the short term. Later
tonight, a weakening trend is expected due to increasing MLCINH and
the stabilizing effects of the southward-moving outflow. Some severe
threat may eventually spread out of WW 410, and depending on
short-term convective trends, local watch expansion may be
    considered.
