The population revolted, and they protested peacefully by making it virtually impossible for ICE to leave with the arrested individuals. The help of local police was requested, but they proved unwilling to allow the innocent local population to be arrested. Thereupon, Trump deployed the National Guard, but even those 2,100 men were not equally willing everywhere to confront the increasingly angry population. This is apart from a few officers, as some of the public's anger stems from some officers and National Guard members indiscriminately shooting citizens and press with rubber bullets.

But Trump wasn't done escalating. Now 700 Marines have been sent to LA.

So far, there have been no fatalities. With the arrival of Marines, that will change. They are not trained to hold back an angry population. They know only one method, and that is lethal force.

This is how Trump likes to see it, because now he can show how tough this draft dodger is while he himself sits safely thousands of kilometers away.

With this step, there's a chance that the US will indeed fall apart. Deploying your own soldiers against your own population is a step towards civil war. Can the US handle more than 3.5 years of Trump?
